Wondering Why No One Is Buying What You’re Selling? Here Are The Reasons

When you are running a business and have no sales, it means that you have not discovered an approach that honors you and your prospective client. Stepping in with courage and determination into a sales conversation is the most powerful aspect of your business and it is how you get paid.

There are a ton of reasons why businesses don’t usually get sales, but in particular these 3 are some  key things that lead one into getting more sales.

1. Defining your target market.

Defining and researching on your target market is marketing 101, so if you’re serious about growing your business  just do it  already. When you’re trying to sell to everyone, you’re not attracting anyone. You need to define your niche. “Women” is not specific enough, “Women ages 20-65” is not specific enough, “Women ages 20-35 who have children” is not specific enough.

2. No one knows who you are.

When you are building a brand, you don’t just expect people to come. Your product, service or personality could be the best thing ever but if no one knows you exist then it doesn’t really matter. A marketing strategy isn’t just “posting on social media” or “sending products to bloggers” you need to be clear on who, what, where and whys of your marketing activities. What are you trying to accomplish ? is it  growing your email list or Building community through social media? Probably some combination all of the above. You need to be clear on your business goals so you can modify  your marketing activities and strategies  to achieve those goals otherwise you’re wasting time and really, no one needs to waste time.

Marketing is an ongoing process that needs to be refined re-strategized  and repeated,  and refined and repeated again.

If you’re not putting yourself out there consistently  to the right people  you won’t see sales. I’m not going to tell you that numbers don’t matter (they do), but having 500 targeted, engaged followers is better than having 5,000 followers who never want to buy what you’re selling.

3. communicating your value.

The truth is, People are selfish. You have to give them a reason to buy what YOU are selling. What’s in it for them? Just being “pretty” or “affordable” or “fun” isn’t enough. The  product or service needs to provide real value to people’s lives and you need to be able to communicate that value. Some entrepreneurs most times are made susceptible to thinking that their products or services are really amazing and so other people will think they are really amazing too, and then buy them maybe. But honestly, it doesn’t matter how amazing you think your products are what matters is what your (potential) customers think. Ask yourself how are you are making their lives easier? are you solving a problem? are you giving them something that they REALLY want?

If none of these relate harmoniously with you , then you really need to take a step back and re-strategize!
